SDCEA Association Meeting

October 18, 2001

Brookings Inn, Brookings, SD

Meeting called to order by President Ray Gosmire. There were no additions to the agenda.

Motion was made by Vince Gunn to accept the minutes as read. John Kangas seconded. Motion carried.

Ida Marie Snorteland gave the Treasurer's Report. John Kangas moved to accept Treasurer's Report. Seconded by Ken Wonnenberg. Motion Carried.

Association Reports:

SDAE4-HA report was given by Susan Schlichting. The 4-H Educators voted to change their name from SDAE4-HA to SDAE4-HE (South Dakota Association of Extension 4-H Educators).

SDESA report was given by Carolyn Clague.

NAEFCS/SD report was given by Ruth Schmeichel.

SDCAA report was given by Chuck Langner. There was a request to do away with the Monday Night Steak Fry. Chuck Langner made a motion to cancel the steak fry on Monday nights and to let the associations meet on their own. Don Guthmiller seconded. Motion carried.

Committee Reports:

Benefits Committee. Don Peterson reported on benefits and retirement. A website is now available at www.bopweb.com.

Promotions Committee Subcommittee #1. Bob Fanning reported on the development of a webpage for SDCEA would be corning in the future along with the SDCES website.

Promotions Committee Subcommittee #2. Corrine Huber gave the report. The following items are available to order: sticky nametags, insulated mug, ceramic coffee mugs, denim shirts, and zippered portfolio. The orders need to be in by October 31, 2001.

Social Committee. Michelle Tilberg gave the report. It was suggested that one person/association be on the committee.

Old Business:

No old business.

New Business:

Martha Flamming nominated Steve Sutera as SDCEA President. Seconded by Deanna Gall.

Don Guthmiller made a motion that nominations cease and to cast a unanimous ballot. Craig

Rosenberg seconded. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Lome Tilberg to pay $6 for each legislator at the Community Leader Meetings. Ken Wonnenberg seconded. Motion carried.
