SDCEA Annual Meeting

October 18, 2007

Brookings, SD

 

Dean Lemme addressed the Community Leader Meeting (CLM) issue of an SDCEA sponsored event before SDCEA meeting was convened. 

 

          President Jim Wilson called the SDCEA Annual meeting to order.

 

Motion by Liz Gorham, & was seconded, to approve the agenda as printed.   Motion carried.

 

Motion by Heather Gessner, & was seconded, to accept the minutes as had been emailed.  Motion carried.

 

Jim Wilson stated that SDCEA Treasurer Russell Persyns had moved, and that the account was turned over to Jim and Kari Fruechte.  Clint Clark then reviewed the Treasurer’s Report.  Don Guthmiller made a motion, & was seconded, to accept the treasurer’s report.  Motion carried.

 

SDCEA Committee Reports: 

Promotion:  Heather Gessner reported on the displayed clothing along with ordering information.

Social:  David VanderVliet reported there were 45 people at the state fair steak fry.  For the Annual Conference social, 59 people attended.  David reported they were at break-even for social income and expenses.  He was complimented for that fact.

 

Association reports were deferred until the Awards Banquet.

 

Old Business:

Jim Wilson gave an update on the Distance Learning Survey.  SDSU decided on the Elluminate system.  Down the road this system will be evaluated. 

 

There was discussion on CLM meal reimbursement.  It was decided to leave as is, which is up to $7 per national or state legislator and county commissioner.

 

New Business:

Discussion was held on printing letterhead at SDSU and not within a county.  Administration offered to pay for letterhead printing from SDSU.

Emery Tschetter was passed the duty of selecting the Lloyd & Alvis Wilson Scholarships.  Emery requested to have SDCEA and Alpha Epsilon Executive Officers take on the administrative and selection responsibilities.  Don Guthmiller made a motion & was seconded to accept that request.  Motion carried.

South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service Affiliate Associations Involvement in Annual Conference Planning Committee

WHEREAS, the National Mission of Epsilon Sigma Phi is to foster standards of excellence in the Extension System and develop the Extension profession and professional;

WHEREAS, the Vision Statement of Epsilon Phi is to lead the Extension System in promoting and supporting professionalism in Extension;

WHEREAS, those who attend National Professional Development Conferences are charged with bringing back and sharing of information garnered at these conferences;

BE IT RESOLVED THAT, those individuals who represent the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service at these Professional Development Conferences be given the opportunity for input and/or service to the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service Annual Conference Committee and further the Professional Development of Extension Professionals at these conferences by being able to share ideas and information.

Tracey Renelt made a motion to approve this Professional Development Opportunity during Annual Conference.  Seconded.  Motion carried.

 

Election of SDCEA President:  Kari Fruechte elected by ballot.
