SDCEA Annual Meeting

            President Steve Sutera called the meeting to order. Steve asked for any additions to the agenda.

            Secretary’s report was given by Judy Johnson. John Gille moved and Chuck Ullery seconded that the secretary’s report be accepted. Motion passed.

            Treasurer’s report was given by Cheryl Jacobs. Balance in the SDCEA account is $2031.55. Bill Keck moved and Leon Wrage seconded the treasurer’s report be accepted. Motion passed.

            Discussion was held on the Steak Fry expenses incurred by the associations. Chuck Ullery moved and Don Peterson seconded that SDCEA pay any remaining Steak Fry expenses. Motion passed.

            Committee reports:

            Benefits: No real activity to report. A suggestion was made that the state health screening offered throughout the state be held at annual conference for CES staff. The suggestion will be passed on to the 2003 Annual Conference committee.

            Promotions #1 – Bob Fanning stated SDCEA is now on the intranet. Officer names, committee chairs and responsibilities are listed and described. A survey was done among the counties on the community leader meetings but did not get a big response.

            Promotions #2 – Jackets and caps are on the web site. A SDCEA brief case is being added to the promotion line. We are to encourage new staff to order shirts, jackets, mugs, etc.

            Social – This committee planned the Steak Fry at the State Fair. The Steak Fry was well attended by those who were at State Fair.

            Election of new SDCEA President – Steve reminded the membership that the correct protocol for the election each year of the new SDCEA President come from the pool of the current past presidents of the three associations – SDEAFCS, SDAE4-HE, SDCAA. Those up for election are Bob Fanning, Ruth Schmeichel and Judy Johnson. Bob Fanning was declared the SDCEA President for 2002-03 after the membership voted.

            There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
