SDCEA Executive Board Teleconference Minutes - January 25, 2005

Members Present: Rose Stee, Val Braun, Don Guthmiller, Sandra Namken, Lanette Butler, Bob Fanning, Lavonne Meyer, Cheryl Jacobs, Carole Sweeter.

Meeting was called to order.

Promotions Committee – Committee Chair Carole Sweeter asked for suggestions on what we would like to do. Current suggestions include: jackets (medium weight), hooded sweatshirts, caps, cups, and pens. We have to use an approved vendor to use the SDSU logo. There are 3 approved vendors in Brookings that we can use. Send ideas to Carole and she will check on bids for these items. Carole and Lanette Butler will pursue this further and report back.

Social Committee – Committee Chair Cheryl need the names of the representatives from each of the Associations. That committee will try to come up with an event for spring and also for fall, and also work on a way we can connect these two events somehow. Need to talk to Kim soon to make sure we leave time for an SDCEA event at both Spring and Annual Conference.

We are still looking for a chair for the “Day in Extension”, it was suggested that we ask an Epsilon member/retiree to do this, as a way to help them continue their connection with CES. Ralph Matz is the President this year, and Marty Draper does the newsletter, Rose will contact them to see if this is a possibility.

We are also looking for representatives to serve on the bylaws committee. Sally Park-Hageman and Vera Boje are on it; we still need representatives from NACAA and the Specialists Association. The main issue to be explored is to create an expanded pool of President candidates. Any other suggestions can be sent to Sally. Also Sally will send a copy of the bylaws to the Executive Board.

Concerns were voiced about CES’s image statewide, and what SDCEA can do to improve this. It was suggested that we schedule another visit with Dr. Warmann, to be held during Spring Conference. Rose will contact Dr. Warmann. It was also discussed that the Directors Communications committee did meet in October, SDCEA was not represented although we had representation from each individual association. Rose will check to see if the committee will be meeting with him again before or as part of Spring Conference and will make sure SDCEA is a part of it.

Bob Fanning reported that the minutes from last fall are on the Intranet. The Committee lists need to be updated. Please send any new information to Bob.

The next Executive Board teleconference will be held on March 30th 9:30-10:30 Central Time.

Meeting adjourned.
